Recently Yahoo changed the way in which we connect to the IM, which broke Pidgin clients in Debian Lenny and Ubuntu systems, specifically pidgin client version 2.5.7 and below. We can correct it by doing the following if you don't want to upgrade your clients to something latest, Go to your yahoo account settings in Pidgin. You'll see two tabs at the top. Go to the second tab(advance). There you'll find, "scs.msg.yahoo.com" and a few other web addresses change it to *cn.scs.msg.yahoo.com*. Thanks to Vipin M of AU-KBC who gave this piece of info via ILUGC mailing list.

Yesterday around 22:00 HRS IST FStival.org website went live! It has very basic information, which will grow in the future. This will serve as an one stop shop for all the information concerned with FStival and Software Freedom Day celebrations conducted as a part of GLUGOT and GLUG-Madurai. This website is done using Drupal 6.4, with some cool modules :)

I received my "Full Commit Access" to Subversion code base http://svn.collab.net/ on 23-08-2008 01:47 AM IST. It was a long time dream for me to get commit access to a popular Free Software project and it came true now. This made me the 2nd committer in India :) (after Kamesh) You can have a look at http://svn.collab.net/repos/svn/trunk/COMMITTERS for details. I received my partial commit access to subversion code base on 02-11-2007 01:22 AM IST.

Yesterday around 22:00 IST Planet TCE was launched. It took me just an hour to come up with this planet. Planet is a wonderful software which is very flexible. Right now the planet has minimal subscription and in future it will grow with more subscriptions. It aggregates blog feeds of students/staff/alumnus of Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai. Will try to tweak the CSS of this planet when I find time :)

A couple of months back Joe Steeve asked me to upgrade the GLUG-Madurai website from an older Drupal version (4.6.x) to something new. I tried for a couple of days when he told, and thought it will consume more time due to some incompatibilities I found with the modules like 'frontpage' used in that website, hence I stopped there. Last week when the FStival work started in full swing we wanted to make the announcements for the event and thought that the website is too outdated, which ultimately pushed me to do this work. Hence I started upgrading the site from Drupal 4.6.x to the latest 6.3 version. I took the following path in order to make the upgradation smooth (Those are drupal versions):
